Adelaide Hills Wine Region
In the Adelaide Hills, you'll find South Australia's oldest wine region. And more than 50 wineries continuing a tradition that started way back in 1845, when a hock from Echunga became Australia's first wine export (it was sent to Queen Victoria but no-one's sure if she was brave enough to taste it).
Today, some of Australia's most elegant cool climate sparkling and still wines are produced in the region, from grape varieties including: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for sparkling and table wines in the coolest areas; Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot in the slightly warmer areas; and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz in the lower altitudes.

- Abbey Rock Wines
Abbey Rock is a South Australian wine company based in the Adelaide Hills at Balhannah. We are passionate and committed to producing individual, elegant wines from low yielding, high quality vineyards in South Australia. Tastings by appointment.
- Anvers Wines
We are a premium boutique producer, producing wines from low yielding vineyards. Our grapes are sourced from our estate vineyard near Kangarilla in the Adelaide Hills, as well as the world-renowned regions of McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek.
- Barratt Wines
The Barratt label has been produced since 1993 from this boutique venture which has repeatedly won accolades and a five star rating. Lindsay Barratt oversees two small, family-owned vineyards in Summertown in the Piccadilly Valley ensuring ultimate quality fruit for his winemaking at our Lobethal winery.
- Barristers Block Wines
Producers of premium wines from Adelaide Hills and Wrattonbully. Small family operated concern producing a select 2000 cases, selling domestically and internationally.
- Cawdor Wines
Cawdor Wines was established in 1999 with 46 acres under vine near Echunga. The vineyard grows Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Riesling and Chardonnay.
- Chain of Ponds Wines
"A touch of Tuscany in the Adelaide Hills" Set amidst the rolling hills and vineyards surrounding the old township of Gumeracha, the Tasting Room offers an exciting range of Italian varietals to complement our premium range of cool climate wines.
- Cloudbreak Wines
Cloudbreak Wines vineyard is located in the Lenswood GI and the winery is located at the old Onkaparinga Wool Mills at Lobethal where Simon Greenleaf and William Finlayson craft Single Vineyard wines from carefully selected grapes. Cellar door tastings are available by appointment and the winery hopes to open a permanent weekend cellar door at the Wool Mills in the spring.
- Coobara Wines
"Coobara" meaning place of native birds is a ten hectare vineyard located adjacent to the Cromer Conservation Park, situated 4.5km from the township of Birdwood in the northern Adelaide Hills wine region. Gentle sloping landscape, high altitude with sandy loam over clay soil with high rainfall and late ripening enables us to produce premium, complex 'Reds' and dry, fruitful 'Whites'. Being a family run vineyard, our hands-on approach enables us to maximise quality at all times and maintain a boutique wine that is tended from the ground to bottle.
- Griffin Wines
Griffin Wines is owned and managed by the Griffin family. Their vineyard, Jupiter Springs Vineyard, is at Kuitpo in the Southern Adelaide Hills, 350 metres above sea leve. Our wines are made off-site and the aim is to produce wines with distinct cool climate varietal flavours.
- Hahndorf Hill Winery
Voted 'Best Tourism Winery' for two years running, this beautiful boutique winery in its historic setting offers a range of exciting and unusual wines which can be tasted at the cellar door daily, while delicious gourmet lunches are served on the weekends.
- Johnston Wines
With origins dating back to 1839, the Johnston Group is the oldest known family owned business in SA. The fruit for our wines is entirely estate grown at Johnston's Oakbank vineyards. The cellar door is situated in the historic brewery.

- Nepenthe Wines

- Norton Summit Vineyards
500 metres above sea level, 5km from Mt Lofty, the 3 acre vineyard was planted in a valley on clay/shale soils in 1998 and approximately 500 cases are produced annually. The vines are unirrigated and unfertilised with low yields being the prime target. Small parcels of hand picked grapes are vinified in open fermenters and matured in new and older French oak for up to 15 months.

- Yacca Paddock Vineyards
Filmmakers Kerry Heysen-Hicks and Scott Hicks turned their pursuit of quality, to grape growing. They established their cool climate vineyard in the Kuitpo region of Adelaide Hills, where they designed a premium vineyard in conjunction with vigneron Geoff Hardy and developed their Shiraz, Tannat, Dolcetto wines under the Yacca Paddock label, with wine maker Ben Riggs.
