Australia is home to Penfolds, Hardys, Rosemount Estate and more famous labels, but it is also well known for some of the best small boutique wineries in the world.  These low yeild, high quality estates are often family run and loved.


  1. Chambers Rosewood Winery
    The 'you've found us' exclamation on the sign at the front gate gives visitors to this rustic cellar door a glimpse of the unique Australian boutique winery experience available within. The first thing you notice is the impressive array of bottles on the tasting bar where you will find more than 30 different wines, including many lesser-known wines such as Muscadelle, Cinsault and Chasselas in the line up. Look out for a particularly interesting variety called Gouais which is a parent plant of Chardonnay. Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate lists Chambers Rosewood Winery as one of the best Australian boutique wineries in the world.

  2. Wonga Estate
    Wonga Estate comprises of four acres of vines dedicated to Pinot Noir (rated 91 points by James Halliday) and Chardonnay (rated 95 points by James Halliday). Greg and Jady Roberts have a simple philosophy of producing premium cool climate pinot noir and chardonnay from low yielding estate grown vines. In 2002 Wonga Estate sourced Shiraz fruit from Heathcote's low yielding dry grown old vines planted in the rare Cambrian soil. Rated 95 points by James Halliday Sergio Carlei from the Green Vineyards and Carlei Estate Wines provides Wonga Estate with his expertise and winemaking skills.
