Goulburn Valley Wine Region

The Goulburn Valley is a huge area stretching from Seymour in central Victoria up to Echuca on the Murray River. Warm summers and good rainfall make this a fertile area. As well as vineyards, prolific orchards grow apples, pears, peaches and other stone fruits, so watch out for the farm gate sales.

Shiraz, the longtime staple of the region, is made here into a less powerful, more aromatic wine than the bigger Central Victorian types. The Cellar Door is conveniently situated in Nagambie's historic old grocery store in the main street." Ralph Kyte-Powell 340 High Street, Nagambie Ph 03 5794 2828

The winery’s successful recent direction has been towards the so-called Rhône varieties, both those traditional to the Goulburn Valley, like Marsanne and Shiraz, and the less familiar like Roussanne, Viognier and Mourvèdre. In addition Blackwood Park Riesling remains among Victoria’s best, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are worthy drops too.
